Outlast is a game which is known for its frightening scenarios of wandering in an abandoned asylum they desperately try to escape. Now fans who have played the game on PC and who would also like to play Red Barrel Games’ horror game on PS4 will not have to wait much longer.

According the PlayStation Blogcast, Outlast will be arriving on PSN this week on February 4th in North American and February 5th in Europe.

With the beta version of Sony’s ‘PlayStation Now’ service in full swing, a list of games that are currently available for the service has been leaked to the Industry.

First Party:
◾Killzone 3
◾Puppeteer
◾Shadow of the Colossus

Third Party:
◾Papo & Yo
◾Darksiders II
◾MX vs. ATV: Alive
◾Disgaea 4
◾Ninja Gaiden 3
◾Shatter

Now even though this list is rather random, it does make us hopeful for a diverse line-up of games that will no doubt be made available for the service when it launches later this year.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Director Hideo Kojima has revealed that the game is being tested with Sony’s HMZ T-3 Head Mounted Display which also featured a few photos of Snake’s Japanese voice actor Akio Otsuka trying it out.

In one of the photos, Otsuka-san mimics the “Kept you waitin’ huh?” pose Snake does during the initial cutscene of the game (you can see it above).

Prototype boxes of the three versions that will be initially released in Japan for PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 were also shown. However, the Xbox One version was missing as its Japanese release date as not yet been confirmed since the X1 is yet to launch in Japan.

PCs may be running old (and new) Xbox 360 games sooner than the Xbox One.

The lead developer on the Xbox 360 xenia project, (who wished to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) has recently made some promising comments about emulating the seventh generation console from Microsoft.

Per him “Author here. Yeah, the readme is meant to scare off people. Even with it I still get people on IRC or email asking me if they can play game X or where they can get a copy. The note about no downloads is for all those who download 360 emulators from shady YouTube links and such – there’s a surprising number of fakes packed with malware and viruses floating around.

Status of the project is that it’s coming along well, after a long period of inactivity. Many games get to title screens though don’t draw much. I’m really hoping AMD gets its shit together and releases Mantle soon, as that will make emulating the GPU related things significantly easier.”

Where-as the Xbox 360 had light backwards compatibility when it launched, and the same could be said of the PS3, the lack of that feature for the Xbox One and PS4 has created quite the stir of tumult in the gaming community given that there aren’t a lot of games available for either new-gen console. This gives the Steam Machine a huge level-up on the competition… assuming the Xenia team can get a working emulator out there in time.

In addition to being able to stream PC games between host/client PCs, the Steam Machine’s ability to work as a standard desktop enables it to emulate past games as well. The ability to emulate Xbox 360 games would essentially, and theoretically, mean that the Steam Machines would be tapped into being the “all-in-one” media entertainment solution a lot more than Microsoft’s own Xbox One. This looks even worse yet, given that Kinect is completely compatible with PCs, meaning that even the motion-based Xbox games could still be played on the Steam Machine.

Nevertheless, full emulation is still a ways off and you’ll need a pretty hefty rig. The idea that the team has made enough headway to some games to the title screen and running is still an awesome thing. Maybe it’ll get Microsoft to act a bit quicker in offering a solution to Xbox One owners, because right now the Steam Machine is looking like a beautiful $500 option for anyone who not only wants a lot of power and performance from their living room solution, but a diverse and extensive library of both PC and Xbox 360 games (amongst many other libraries of emulated platforms).

Capcom’s producer duo Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano provided some interesting information about the upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, its engine Pantha Rhei and even the possibility of a chapter of the Street Fighter franchise on PS4, as reported by Bahamut’s Crazy Arcade. Ono-san explained that with the release of PS4 and the increase of the number of platforms available, the development burden has increased as well, with different target demographics for each platform. But Capcom has its own structure to develop the best games for each platform and its specific target.

For instance the upcoming Deep Down for PS4 is dedicated to hardcore gamers, matching the PS4′s features and visual fidelity. Although development is not easy, Capcom is gradually mastering the characteristics of that segment of customers. They were also asked if a future installment of the Street Fighter franchise would use the new Panta Rhei engine that powers Deep Down. Ono-san explained that Ultra Street Fighter IV uses the older cross-platform engine MT Frameworks.

For the development of Deep Down on PS4 they’re using Panta Rhei, but the new engine is being tailored around the game, and the current primary goal is to complete Deep Down itself, so the engine is not yet finished and its current engine is not suitable to fighting games. Yet he also added that if there’s demand for it, the development team will enhance Panta Rhei to suit the requirements of fighting games. Considering the realistic graphics showcased by Deep Down, it’s actually hard to imagine a Street Fighter game developed with the same engine. However, we’ll see if Panta Rhei will be up to par in that field. Capcom Senior Manager of Technology Management Masauru Ijuin definitely seemed to think so in a recent interview.
