Microsoft has already quite a few games announced for 2015, but Microsoft Game Studios Partner Creative Director Ken Lobb mentioned during an interview on The Inner Circle Podcast that there’s more on the menu.

Lobb explained that, as part of the “Phil philosophy” and the way Microsoft Game Studios work, they don’t target a specific month for any game. They want the big games in the holidays but they don’t avoid the spring. They have Ori and the Blind Forest “which is fenomenal” coming soon, and ScreamRide “which is kind of insane insanity,” but there’s more that we don’t know about yet:

“We’ve got a couple other things that are coming out before the fall that haven’t been announced yet.”

He continued by saying that even if he won’t make official announcements, there are a couple of other games before the big titles coming in the fall that people will be excited about and that will surprise gamers when they hear what those are.

Then there are also games that planned for spring 2016 already, and things for the fall that may or may not be finish in time. As those get moved around Microsoft will decide if those will be added to the spring line-up, and if two things move into each other something has to be shifted.

Lobb concluded by saying that there are a lot of great games coming next year across all platforms, including Sony and Nintendo, and it’s a great time to be a gamer.

Shadow-Realms

by Ron Duwell

We’ve been so distracted by Dragon Age: Inquisition and any incoming news of the new Mass Effect that it would be hard to blame anyone for forgetting about BioWare’s other RPG in the works, Shadow Realms. Only a little bit of information has been made available since San Diego Comic Con 2014, but insiders are claiming that all information now is dated because the game has received a major overhaul.

For those who don’t remember, Shadow Realms is BioWare’s answer to the drop in and play co-op RPG genre, and it combines both elements of fantasy and science fiction. Four players must work together to take down a fifth player acting as the dungeon master, similar to Microsoft’s incoming Fable Legends.

Originally, the game was planned to be released with episodic content through a free-to-play payment model, but sources at Kotaku are claiming that EA and BioWare have been changing the game since October. Rather than the slow release of content, the two companies have decided to repackage the game as a premium product with all of the content available at once.

Kotaku claims, “Two industry sources say they heard Shadow Realms was cancelled, but a third, reliable source familiar with goings-on at BioWare Austin says the game was overhauled in late October and will now have a full campaign.”

Originally, Shadow Realms was scheduled for a release in 2015, but we’ll have to wait for more updated information in light of the developments the source claims has happened.

Heads up, last-minute holiday shoppers. If you still need to pick up something for that extra-special gamer on your list, Walmart and Best Buy have some seriously good deals on next-generation consoles you might want to check out.

With just 48 hours to go until Christmas, Walmart is currently offering Sony’s PlayStation 4 for just $329, the lowest price we’ve seen on the console, which normally sells for $400. The deal started yesterday and is only available for in-store pickup of online orders.

As Ars Technica pointed out, the PS4 didn’t even fall below $400 on Black Friday, so this $70 discount is a great deal. The $329 package comes with just the 500GB PS4 console and one controller — no free game downloads.

Meanwhile, if you or whoever you’re buying for would rather have an Xbox One, Best Buy has a $350 bundle up for grabs that includes Microsoft’s new game console (sans Kinect) along with Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and Destiny, plus a $50 Best Buy gift card.

Microsoft has announced January 2015’s free Xbox 360 and Xbox One games for Xbox Live subscribers, and they are a pretty great bunch. D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and MX vs. ATV Alive will all be given away to subscribers to ring in the new year.

Xbox One owners with an Xbox Live subscription will be able to download D4, which normally sells for $15, for free starting January 1. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 users can pick up MX vs. ATV Alive (normally $20) for free January 1-15, and then The Witcher 2 (normally $30) January 16-31.

Now is also a good time to download EA Sports’ extreme snowboarding game SSX, which is free on Xbox 360 through December 31. Xbox One owners, meanwhile, can download Worms Battlegrounds and Volgarr the Viking through the end of the month

During a livestream from Jump Festa, Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment just announced a definitely awesome special edition PS4 for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

The console will be released on March 19th in Japan, and will cost 46,980 yen plus taxes, including a red and black 500 GB console, a matching controller, the game, access to the Episode Duscae Final Fantasy XV demo and a code to download a special dedicated theme.

It will also come with 15 days of PlayStation plus and the usual complement of monoaural headset, power cord, HDMI and USB cables.

The console will be sold in limited quantities, and as usual there’s absolutely no word on a western release. Check out our gallery below.

Borderlands, the RPG-like shooter which went on to sell more than 5 million units, is likely coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as a deluxe remastered edition.

Publishing label 2K Games has yet to officially announce the next-gen update, but a listing on the Australian Classification Board appears to have revealed the publisher’s plans prematurely. Little else can be gathered from the listing, though it does suggest that 2K Australia–which was the principal developer of Borderlands: The pre-Sequel–has been delegated duties to build the port.

Remastered updates of popular last-gen games have become a common feature of the gaming calendar. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, The Last of Us Remastered, and Grand Theft Auto 5 are some of the most popular re-releases on next-gen systems.

Gearbox Software, the creator of the Borderlands series, recently suggested that it was the comparatively low installed-base of the next-gen consoles that convinced it to ship Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on last-gen machines only.

Xbox owners left in the cold as word of Capcom’s brawler gets out early.

The venerable Street Fighter franchise will continue, but not on Xbox consoles, apparently. That’s according to a short teaser trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter V, which briefly popped up on Capcom’s YouTube channel this morning before being reset to private (archived version here). Screengrabs from that trailer note the game is “exclusive on PS4 & PC.”

The short teaser takes a brief look through Street Fighter history, and the series’ fans, with a soaring voice-over narrative about growing through battle. The trailer has no mention of a release window or details on whether the release is a timed exclusive or a more permanent arrangement between Capcom and Sony. There’s also no mention of an arcade release, surprising considering the series’ roots and Street Fighter IV’s success in Japanese arcades.

The leak comes ahead of tonight’s presentation of The Game Awards, which has promised a number of exclusive game reveals, and this weekend’s Sony PlayStation Experience fan event, both in Las Vegas. It also follows the surprise August announcement that Square Enix’s 2015 Tomb Raider title would be a timed exclusive on the Xbox One. Third-party console exclusives have gotten rarer over the years, but seem to be seeing a slight uptick as some Japanese publishers focus certain franchises on single consoles in this generation (see also: Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U)

Assuming a 2015 release, the roughly seven-year gap between the original Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 5 is slightly longer than the six-year gap between SF2 and SF3, but shorter than the 11-year gap between SF3 and SF4. The series’ latest expansion, Ultra Street Fighter IV, hit arcades, consoles, and the PC earlier this year.

Things seem to be going quite well for Xbox One in this heated Black Friday, with several reports of sold out shipments for the console at local stores, and the atmosphere seems very positive at Microsoft, with Xbox’s head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg promising great things for next year.

Microsoft’s 8th generation home console, the Xbox One, has hit a new milestone. The console has now sold more than eight million units worldwide.

The Xbox One sold 491,702 for the week ending November 22, 2014. That brings lifetime sales to 8,061,170 units, according to VGChartz. There has also been more than 32 million games sold for the Xbox One at retail.

This news comes a week after worldwide lifetime sales for the Xbox One has topped the Wii U with the console selling more than one million units in the UK. Microsoft also announced earlier this month that they have shipped nearly 10 million Xbox One consoles.
